In 1990, senior high youth of Spring Valley Presbyterian (Columbia, S.C.) launched what is now the Souper Bowl of Caring -- 22 churches raising $5,700. 

This year final reports are expected to reach $4 million - a tremendous amount especially when considering tsunami donations preceeded the Souper Bowl.
